WordPress Web Host Question

I would like to install WordPress on my computer using the services of a Web host that offers WordPress as part of a monthly package.

The Web hosts that I'm considering all offer FTP access included in their packages but my question is: If FTP access is included, does that mean that I do not need to download a separate FTP client as well?

To put it simply: Does FTP access and FTP client mean the same thing?

I don't want to go to the trouble of finding and downloading an FTP client only to find out that that service is already included in a package from a Web host.

I apologize if this seems like a stupid question to ask but the information on the Web host sites that I've looked at seem a little ambiguous on this subject.
